Your privacy is important to us. It is LovShield Inc.'s ("LovShield," "we," "our," or "us") policy to respect your privacy and comply with any applicable law and regulation regarding any personal information we may collect about you. This includes information collected through our website at lovshield.com, our mobile applications (Android and iOS), our web dashboard, our landline protection device, and any other products or services we operate.
LovShield is a telecom security service designed to help seniors stay safe on calls. Personal information is any information about you which can be used to identify you. This includes information about you as a person, your devices, and information about how you use our services.
This policy complies with the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and applicable Canadian provincial privacy legislation. Where we offer services in the United States, we also comply with applicable U.S. state privacy laws.
In the event our site or services contain links to third-party sites, please be aware that those sites have their own privacy policies. After following a link to any third-party content, you should read their posted privacy policy. This Privacy Policy does not apply to any of your activities after you leave our site or services.
Information we collect falls into two categories: information you voluntarily provide to us, and information automatically collected by your devices in the course of using our services.
When you create a LovShield account, we collect your phone number (verified via a one-time passcode), email address, country, and area code. You may optionally provide a display name, preferred language, and timezone. Your country and area code are used to provision a LovShield phone number in a matching region.
When calls are routed through LovShield, we collect and store call metadata only. This includes the caller and callee phone numbers, call direction, call status, start and end timestamps, whether the call was blocked, and the risk assessment result (such as Normal, Suspicious, or High Risk) with the associated reason. We do not store call recordings, audio files, or transcripts.
This section is critical to understanding our service. LovShield analyses live call audio in real time to detect fraud patterns. Here is exactly what happens:
Calls are never recorded. Raw audio exists only in volatile memory (RAM) during the active call. It is never written to disk, stored in any database, or retained after the call ends. Transcription is temporary. Audio is transcribed in real time solely for the purpose of evaluating fraud risk. Transcript data is discarded when the call ends. Risk analysis only. The temporary transcript is evaluated by an AI-based risk engine that returns a risk score and label. Only the resulting risk label and reason are stored—never the transcript or audio itself.
When you use the LovShield mobile app, we collect your device platform (Android or iOS), a device identifier generated by the app, and a push notification token for delivering incoming call alerts. We do not collect your device IMEI, serial number, contacts, photos, files, browsing history, or location data.
If you choose to enable the Family Alert feature, you may provide up to two family member phone numbers and up to two family member email addresses. These contacts are used solely to send alert notifications when a high-risk call is detected. You may add, change, or remove these contacts at any time. LovShield does not contact these individuals for any other purpose.
We store your protection preferences (such as call warnings, auto-termination, and known-contacts-only mode) and any phone numbers you add to your personal block list. These are used solely to enforce your chosen call filtering rules.
Subscription payments are processed exclusively through a third-party payment processor. LovShield does not collect, store, or have access to your credit card number, bank account details, or other financial account information. We receive only confirmation of payment status, plan type, and billing period.
When you visit our website or web dashboard, our servers may collect standard log data such as your IP address, browser type, pages visited, and timestamps. This data is used for security monitoring and service improvement.
If you use the LovShield landline protection device, the device connects to our servers to route your calls through the LovShield protection service. Call metadata is collected in the same manner described above. Audio processing follows the same privacy-preserving approach—audio is processed in real time and never stored. The device is pre-configured before shipping and does not independently collect, store, or transmit personal data.
We may collect personal information from you when you create an account, use the mobile app or landline device, visit our website, adjust your protection settings, contact us for support, or otherwise interact with our services.
We use the information we collect for the following purposes: to provide and operate the LovShield call protection service; to route calls through our protection and risk analysis pipeline; to perform real-time fraud analysis during active calls; to send you warnings when suspicious call activity is detected; to notify your designated family contacts when scam calls are identified; to enforce your block list and protection settings; to authenticate your identity via one-time passcode; to provision and manage your LovShield phone number; to deliver incoming call notifications to your mobile device; to manage your subscription and billing; to provide customer support and respond to inquiries; to comply with our legal obligations and resolve disputes.
We do not use your personal information for advertising, marketing to third parties, behavioural profiling, or sale to data brokers.
When we collect and process personal information, we protect it within commercially acceptable means to prevent loss and theft, as well as unauthorized access, disclosure, copying, use, or modification. All data in transit is encrypted using TLS. Internal services are not accessible from the public internet. Authentication uses one-time passcodes—we do not store passwords for user accounts. Session credentials are stored securely and are not exposed to client-side scripts.
Although we take extensive measures to protect your information, no method of electronic transmission or storage is 100% secure, and no one can guarantee absolute data security.
We keep your personal information only for as long as we need to. Account information, call metadata, device records, settings, and block lists are retained for the duration your account exists and are permanently deleted when you delete your account. Call audio and transcripts are never retained—they exist only during the active call and are discarded immediately afterward. Web log data is retained for up to 90 days. Payment information is managed entirely by our third-party payment processor and is not stored by LovShield.
If necessary, we may retain certain information for compliance with legal, accounting, or reporting obligations.
We share personal information only in the following limited circumstances: telephony providers that route calls to and from your LovShield number; payment processors that handle subscription billing; push notification services that deliver incoming call alerts to your mobile device; transactional email services that deliver family alert emails and verification emails on our behalf; family contacts you designate when you enable Family Alerts; and as required by law, regulation, court order, or governmental request.
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to any third party.
Your personal information is stored and processed in Canada and/or the United States, where we and our service providers maintain infrastructure. If we transfer your personal information to another jurisdiction, we will do so in accordance with the requirements of applicable law and protect the information in accordance with this policy.
Access: You may request details of the personal information we hold about you. Correction: If you believe any information we hold about you is inaccurate, out of date, or incomplete, please contact us or update it directly through the app or dashboard. Deletion: You may delete your account at any time through the mobile app or web dashboard. Data Export: You may request a copy of your personal data in a machine-readable format by contacting us. Withdraw Consent: You may withdraw consent for optional data processing (such as Family Alerts) at any time through your protection settings.
Complaints: If you believe we have breached a relevant data protection law, please contact us. You also have the right to contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada (www.priv.gc.ca).
LovShield is designed for adults, particularly seniors. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under the age of 13. If we become aware that a child has provided us with personal information, we will delete it promptly.
The LovShield mobile app requests only the permissions necessary to provide the service: Microphone (required to establish VoIP call audio), Notifications (required to alert you when an incoming protected call arrives), Full-Screen Intent (required to display the incoming call screen over the lock screen), and Wake Lock (prevents the device from sleeping during an active call). We do not request access to your contacts, camera, location, files, SMS messages, or any other sensitive device data.
The LovShield landline protection device connects your existing phone line to the LovShield service via the internet. The device is shipped pre-configured—no technical setup is required by the customer. If a high-risk call is detected, an audio warning is played to the handset user only; the caller does not hear this warning. If power or internet service is lost, the device automatically bypasses LovShield and connects your phone line directly to your handset, ensuring your phone service is never interrupted.
Our web dashboard uses a single session cookie that is strictly necessary for authentication. This cookie contains only a session identifier, is not accessible to JavaScript, is transmitted only over HTTPS, and expires when you log out. We do not use advertising cookies, tracking pixels, analytics cookies, or any third-party cookies.
LovShield alerts are informational tools. The service does not guarantee detection of all fraudulent calls. Users retain full decision-making authority during all calls. Risk analysis relies on AI-based pattern recognition, which may produce false positives or false negatives. Users should exercise their own judgment and report suspected fraud to appropriate authorities.
If we or our assets are acquired, or in the unlikely event that we go out of business or enter bankruptcy, we would include data, including your personal information, among the assets transferred to any parties who acquire us. We will notify affected users before personal information becomes subject to a different privacy policy.
LovShield does not track users across third-party websites or services. Because we do not engage in cross-site tracking, the "Do Not Track" browser signal does not change our behaviour.
At our discretion, we may change this privacy policy to reflect updates to our services, practices, or legal requirements. If we make significant changes, we will notify you by email and post the updated policy at lovshield.com/privacy.
